Make money online: Internet marketing (Part 3 of 7)

· Education

If you are interested in making money online, there are several key things you can do to build up your list, or in other words, to get people to visit your site and voluntarily give you their name and email addresses. This is important for marketers, because then you have their permission to send them promotions of products or services that you wish to sell. Marketing this way helps you avoid charges of spamming. There are several ways to build up a following on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter.

In internet marketing, there is a term known as target market. This means that you are trying to sell your product to a specific group of people; for example, students, or fans of a particular type of book. On Twitter, there are several ways to connect with specific people who will want to read posts on a specific topic. Here is what you do:

Let’s say you have written a book on a particular topic. You can follow people who have written on the same subject. A hashtag is the pound sign (capital 3 on your keyboard) with a keyword following it. For example, if you are writing a book on cooking, you would go to the search box on Twitter and write #cooking. Add the people who are interested in this topic.

However, here’s an additional tip that will increase your chance of being followed back. In your profile, the first words should involve cooking so that when they consult your profile they will see that you have a similar interest. After all, they know absolutely nothing about you so this gives them a specific reason to follow you back. Every time you do this, you should add a new keyword to your profile. Try to add 50-100 people at a time. However, do not do more than this, because Twitter has specific policies and procedures in place to stop this kind of thing because they do not want people spamming others.

Another good idea in general is to go to Amazon to find e-books on internet marketing. These are often $2.99 or so, and even if you learn just one thing, it will be well worth the money you spent.

You should also combine offline and online marketing techniques. For example, instead of making a traditional business card, make a bookmark. Put your contact information, including your social media profiles, on the bookmark.
