    • Hillary Rodham Clinton – What Happened (464 pages, 4.5/5 stars, May 17/25)
One of her main conclusions about what happened is Trump’s voter suppression tactics. She has the right exact attitude. She learned from her ‘loss’ and extrapolated her lessons to the macro scale. She believes we’re stronger together (“Onward Together”) and she seems like a proto-amphiist! She doesn’t see left or right; she sees nuance and truth, like her husband. She quotes Paul Tillich very effectively, and finishes with a story about Wellesley, her alma mater. Her way of writing is captivating. A catastrophe that she wasn’t elected in 2016, although she can still of course help as non-President.
    • Kati Marton – The Chancellor (303 pages, 4.5 stars, May 16/25)
So good that I will buy a physical copy of the book to support the author. A very balanced portrait of the then-leader of Europe. Her relationship with Macron is special. Her personal story of being trapped as a child in East Germany is so resonant for her later political work. Starts off slowly, the book, but picks up considerably, with every chapter revealing interesting new information to me. I wish she is still a world leader. Her handling of Putin is legendary. She seems like one of the great leaders. Her Syrian refugee policy, taking a million of them, proved her heart. Her economic success with Germany proved her political prowess.
